MISSION
To grow profitably through the engineering, marketing,
installation and maintenance of cost-effective electrical lighting,
power distribution and control systems in the industrial, commercial,
institutional and residential markets in the United States.
To operate the Company with honesty and integrity,
satisfying our customers' needs with quality workmanship and on-time
performance, while promoting the professional development of all
employees. |
HISTORY
Founded by Adrian Van Haren in 1947, upon completion
of his assignment as an electrician in the U.S. Navy, our firm has
grown from a one-man shop to a flourishing organization by meeting
the electric needs of industrial, commercial and institutional customers
throughout the United States. Our reputation for quality is built
on more than size, it stands on our technical ability, cost-effective
work, pride in craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. For more
than 50 years, the firm has built its reputation for excellence through
cost-effective electrical construction, and quality installation
with on-time project completion.
QUALITY COMMITMENT
Van Haren's Managers are field-trained, classroom-educated,
and have professional knowledge and experience working on a variety
of projects throughout the country. Their aggressive, progressive
approach to each undertaking is the foundation for the strong, stable
relationships the firm maintains with its customers.
The commitment to quality, through planning, runs
throughout the entire organization. Excellence in customer service
is the shared responsibility of every person within every department.
By working together, our employees produce exceptional quality and
service, while minimizing wastes and costs.
FACILITY
Located in Byron Center, near Grand Rapids, Michigan,
our facility includes a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse with ample room for
collecting/segregating material for jobs in progress, prefabrication
of fixtures, control centers and other sub-assemblies in order to reduce
labor and improve productivity at the job site. Our complex also has
8,000 sq. ft. in office space that houses the Engineering and CAD department,
administrative offices and training facilities.
PROFESSIONAL STAFF
Van Haren Electric employs approximately 50 dedicated
professionals, capable of providing high-quality service in every
job function. We are fully staffed with highly skilled, motivated
employees who specialize in areas ranging from cost estimating to
accounting, safety to engineering.
Every Van Haren Project Manager has years of education,
training, and daily hands-on experience. They're proficient in estimating,
bidding, purchasing and managing a job from conception to completion
- whether it is a firm bid, a not-to-exceed, or a time and materials
project.
We realize that each job has its own unique set
of requirements; therefore, we match each Project Manager to the
particular projects with which he is most familiar to guarantee the
most efficient and economical installation possible.

PROJECT APPROACH
Customer satisfaction, teamwork, planning, cooperation
and or "get the job done" attitude, are as important as our
knowledge of equipment performance, materials costs and installation
techniques.
Our Project Managers work closely with foremen and
Supervisors to maintain tight control on all aspects of all projects.
This team approach enhances our ability to tightly control costs,
efficiently organize materials and effectively schedule manpower.
The result is maximum project continuity, fewer judgment errors and
accelerated schedules, minimizing customers' time involvement and
maximizing their constructions' value.
Fast-Track Projects
We realize the urgency of efficient performance
and the necessity for strict cost control that many projects require.
We have in-depth experience in fast-track construction, and utilize
"Just-in-Time" delivery
to eliminate double handling and on-site storage. Our relationships
with vendors and suppliers facilitate delivery on long-lead-time
items such as switchgears, primary transformers and motor control
centers. Strict job site planning and scheduling assures that crucial
manpower and materials arrive at the right place at the right time.
Follow-Up
The job doesn't end with the installation. Long-term
customer satisfaction is an important component, too. We provide
maintenance manuals, recommended spare parts, detailed as-built drawings
and closeout documents. Upon start-up and/or transition, we'll stay
on as long as necessary until owner maintenance staff is thoroughly
familiar with the facility and equipment.
Lastly, we also provide 24-hour service for emergencies
and preventive maintenance within a 60-mile radius of Grand Rapids,
Michigan or work with the owner's local electrician to provide appropriate
service.
