Brian has over 30 years experience in the industry, all at Van Haren Electric. Upon graduating with honors from the University
of Michigan in 1979 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Brian had already obtained his Master Electrician Licence. Brianʼs
experience allows him to bring a unique perspective to projects and leading the company. He has experience with installing
and leading projects in the field, estimating, project management and engineering, as well as leading and owning a successful
electrical business.

Laura has more than 20 years experience in the electrical construction industry with designing, estimating, project management
and contract administration responsibilities. Laura is a graduate of Michigan State University, BA with honors in Materials & Logistic Management and an AA from Davenport College of Business in Accounting/Computer Programming. Responsibilities include project management, conceptual budgeting, detailed final cost estimates and incorporating value-engineering solutions.

Lynn has more than 25 years experience of industrial, commercial and residential electrical service. Lynnʼs professional certifications include a Journeypersonʼs License from the State of Michigan, AMA Management, Sales and Marketing Classes, Total
Quality Management, Organization Behavior and Essential Business Communication from GRCC. Responsibilities include
management of the companyʼs service department and corporate sales.
Melissa Sytsema - Accounting Manager

Melissa has 20 years experience in accounting including tool and die, automotive and over 8 years in the construction industry. Melissa graduated with honors from Cornerstone University, B.S. in Business Administration with an Accounting Emphasis. She has led the implementation of new accounting/manufacturing software at two companies. Responsibilities include all accounting functions, budgeting and human resources. Organization memberships include CFMA, ASA, and ABC.
Tom Miller - Project Manager

Tom has over 25 years experience in the electrical construction industry as Apprentice, Journeyman, Leadman, Foreman and
Project Superintendent. Tom graduated from Western Michigan University, BS Criminal Justice. Tom has been with Van Haren
Electric since 1980. Tomʼs responsibilites include project management and fleet management.
Dan Larabel - Estimator, BIM/AutoCAD Specialist

Dan has joined Van Haren Electric after graduating with honors from the Construction Management Program at Michigan State University. During his time at MSU, Dan was involved with Building Commissioning and 3-D BIM Coordination. Dan’s responsibilities involve estimating, 3-D coordination, and AutoCAD. He is excited about the opportunity to build in the community where he grew up.
Brent Penning - Project Manager/Estimator

Brent has been with Van Haren Electric for seven years. He is a graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High School and has completed the four-year apprenticeship classes at GRCC. Brent has worked as a field electrician and foreman for the past 15 years and is currently in the office working in estimating and project management. Brent also oversees the warehouse shipping and receiving duties as well as tools and equipment management.
Bill has over 14 years of experience in the electrical construction industry as an Apprentice, Journeyman, Leadman and Foreman and has been with Van Haren Electric since 1998. Bill graduated from Lansing Community College with an AA in Criminal Justice. He has recently joined the office staff as a Project Manager.
Brooke has recently joined Van Haren Electric as the service coordinator. Her responsibilities include assisting the service manager and project managers. Brooke graduated from
the University of Colorado with a BS in Civil Engineering. Brooke has worked in the construction industry for over 12 years. She specializes in developing and fine-tuning operational systems and is excited about the opportunity to work at
Van Haren.
