ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING AND CONSTRUCTION

Design/Build

Our Design/Build experience is extensive, as we have been performing such projects since 1979 under the expertise of Brian Van Haren, Professional Engineer. Virtually all Design/Build projects are fast track with heavy owner involvement, so conceptual budgeting, alternative system evaluation, life cycle cost evaluation, critical path scheduling and coordination and pre-purchase are all ingrained parts of our skill set.

Design Assistance

We have had considerable experience on projects in which we are not the project engineer of record, but are selected early based on our ability to add value to the project during the design stages.

Value Added Engineering (with a quality focus)

It is our goal as a member of the project team to increase the value of an electrical installation by creatively reducing the cost of the project without sacrificing quality. Our engineering expertise sets us apart with Brian Van Haren, P.E., to lead the design processes. His Electrical Engineering Degree and 25 years of experience in the industry are unique and unmatched. We have learned to focus on such items as energy utilization, future flexibility, ease of maintenance and durability, and factor these items into our decision processes.

Low Voltage Systems

Our extensive experience integrating the critical low voltage systems into projects, enables us to understand the importance of building flexibility into the infrastructure of a building to accommodate changing technologies. Additionally, our experience plus a network of low voltage system suppliers and designers that we utilize during the pre-construction phases, ensures that these critical electronic systems are incorporated into the design and budgeting phases of the project.

Budgeting and Estimating

Extensive databases for cost per square foot and hours per square foot, as well as a unit pricing methodology have been developed by Van Haren Electric. These methodologies separately or in combination are very effective in developing budgetary costs and evaluating alternative installation costs with accuracy and speed as well as preparing estimates. In addition, our project partnering and Design/Build experience has taught us to anticipate items that are not shown on the drawings. We know which questions to ask to help anticipate costs and minimize coordination issues with other trades - especially the mechanical and architectural.
